Historic Sears Building
The historic Sears Building built in 1928, featuring open floor plans and high ceilings, was suited for the display and storage of retail goods. The building’s original tenant was Sears Roebuck who operated the building until 1957 when it was taken over by Barnett’s House of Fireplaces. Heart of America Group is renovating the space for commercial rental use. The renovation will maintain the integrity of the historical building, while adding new windows and skylights to bring light into the space, as well as modernizing the mechanical and electric systems in the building. The renovated building will also include a new exterior entrance with convenient access to the parking deck. The building will also include storage in the basement. This renovation will continue the legacy of the Historic Sears Building, and keep it in tact as one of the best storefronts in Downtown Moline.
